The University of Tulsa volleyball team continued the 2000 season with a kick in the Wisconsin-Green Bay/Amerihost Classic, winning nine of eleven games and capturing the tournament title.

The Hurricane had two players earn all-tournament team honors. Senior Kristien Van Lierop finished the weekend with 58 kills and a .321 hitting percentage in three matches. Junior middle blocker Ashley Frogge' recorded a .261 hitting percentage to go along with a 1.27 block and a 3.36 kill per game average.

TU defeated DePaul in the first match 3-2 (15-13, 17-15, 9-15, 8-15, 15-10) before defeating Western Illinois 3-0 (15-6, 15-9, 15-11) in its second match. The final match of the weekend took only three games as well, as Tulsa beat the host squad, UWGB, 3-0 (15-6, 15-9, 15-11).

In TU's first match at the UWGB-Amerihost Classic, senior setter Shannon Smith recorded 80 assists during the five-game, three-hour marathon. That improved upon her previous best of 77, which she set at the first tournament of the season. Previously, she had tied the old mark of 58 twice last season. That mark was originally set by Mendy Marsh in the 1996 season.
