IRVING, Texas - Freshman libero Brooke Berryhill was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday afternoon.

"Brooke had another great week defensively for us," TU head coach Steven McRoberts said. "She also had an amazing week passing with no service receive errors. She's just really growing into the libero position. At times, she's making the tough dig in the long rally.

"She's stepped up along with Kellie (Culbertson) and Valerie (El Houssine) and made us one of the best passing teams in the conference and one of the best defensive teams in the conference and she's a big reason why we are up there in the top of the nation in digs.

Berryhill recorded 27 digs in a 3-0 sweep over Rice on Friday night and recorded one service ace, one assists and had no reception errors in 17 attempts.

The Waco, Texas native recorded 20 digs in a 3-1 win over North Texas on Sunday and recorded three assists and had no reception errors in 27 attempts.

Berryhill averaged 6.71 digs per set and had no reception errors in 44 attempts in the two matches.

Berryhill has recorded 20-plus digs in five of her last six matches and leads C-USA with an average of 6.33 digs per set in league matches. Overall, she ranks sixth in the C-USA and leads TU with 4.50 digs per set.

This is the second C-USA weekly award for Berryhill as she was named the defensive player of the week on Sept. 23.

Overall, this is the fifth consecutive player of the week for Tulsa. Freshman outside hitter Erica Bohannon was named the offensive player of the week on Sept. 9, junior setter Bailey Clampitt was named the setter of the week on Sept. 16 and junior outside hitter Valerie El Houssine was named the offensive player of the week on Sept. 30.
