Henderson Earns Conference USA Player Of The Week Honors

IRVING, Texas - Senior outside hitter Tyler Henderson was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
For Henderson, this marks the 16th time during her career she has won the award and the second time she has received the honor this year.
Henderson, the 2010 and 2011 C-USA Player of the Year, registered 31 kills and hit .434 in Tulsa's 3-2 victory over UTEP on Friday night. The performance marked the second time this season she tallied more than 30 kills in a match. In Sunday's sweep of Tulane, Henderson tallied 18 kills, including 10 in the first set to power the Golden Hurricane to victory. Henderson also hit .424, recorded six digs, collected a season-high four service aces and tied a season-high mark of four blocks. For the week she averaged 6.12 kills, 6.94 points per set, 1.12 digs per set and hit .430.
"Tyler had a great weekend," commented Head Coach Steven McRoberts. "It was possibly the most consistent weekend that she has had all season. You could tell by her demeanor at practice last week that she was going to have a good performance. She came to practice focused and I was proud to see her effort rewarded during the matches."
The all-time career points leader in C-USA history, Henderson leads the conference in kills with 5.31 per set and points with 5.82 per frame this year.
Tulsa will travel to Dallas on Friday, October 19 to face SMU in a 7 p.m. tilt.
