GOBBO NAMED CONFERENCE USA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

IRVING, Texas - Senior middle blocker Miriele Gobbo was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday.
"We are all proud of Miriele," TU head coach Steven McRoberts said. "She is a great example to her teammates on work ethic and attitude. She is having a tremendous senior year and she definitely deserves to be recognized for her contributions to this team."
Gobbo recorded a career-high seven total blocks, including six solo blocks in a 3-1 win over Middle Tennessee State on Friday night.
The Curitiba, Brazil native recorded 10 kills, a .450 hitting percentage, four digs and 14.0 points. Gobbo averaged 3.50 points per set, 1.75 blocks per set and 2.50 kills per set. Gobbo has posted 33 kills and a .365 hitting percentage in her last four matches and has recorded 17 total blocks in her last five matches.
Gobbo leads TU with 48 block assists and with 54 total blocks overall and leads TU with 24 block assists, 27 total blocks and a 0.75 blocks per set in league matches.
This is the first C-USA weekly honor of Gobbo's career, and the fourth Defensive Player of the Week award for TU this season.
This is the eighth C-USA weekly award for the Golden Hurricane. Tulsa is the first school in C-USA history to have six different players earned conference weekly award.
The Golden Hurricane returns home for the final time this season with a match against Tulane at 7 p.m. on Friday and against Marshall at noon at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
