TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa volleyball team looks to defend its Conference USA Tournament Championship this weekend in Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Tulsa (23-6, 12-2 C-USA) enters the tournament as the No. 3 seed and faces the winner of host No. 6 seed Middle Tennessee State (17-12, 8-6 C-USA) and No. 11 seed FIU (12-16, 7-7 C-USA), which plays on Thursday at 5 p.m. The Hurricane plays on Friday at 5 p.m.

Senior outside hitter Kellie Culbertson leads TU with 3.44 kills per set, which ranks ninth in the C-USA, and with 0.49 service aces per set, which leads the C-USA and ranks ninth in the NCAA.

Culbertson, who was named on the C-USA First Team, is coming off a weekend where she recorded 43 kills, including 33 kills at UTEP last Friday, which is tied for the fourth most in school history in a single match.

Freshman libero Brooke Berryhill leads TU with 4.68 digs per set overall, which ranks sixth in the C-USA, and 5.31 digs per set in league matches, which ranks second in the C-USA.

Berryhill, who was named on the C-USA Second Team and on the C-USA All-Freshman Team, collected 50 digs over the weekend, including a school-record and a career-high 41 digs at UTEP on Friday.

Freshman outside hitter Erica Bohannon, who was named on the C-USA All-Freshman Team, has averaged 2.45 kills per set this season and has added 35 total blocks.

Junior middle blocker Carly Boatwright, who was named on the C-USA All-Academic Team, leads TU with 0.85 blocks per set overall and with 1.03 blocks per set in league matches, which ranks ninth in the C-USA.

MTSU is led by Chelsea Ross with 3.42 kills per set, Shelby Anderton with 6.37 assists per set and Kendall Howard with 4.08 digs per set.

The Golden Hurricane leads the series against the Blue Raiders 2-0, including a 3-1 (25-22, 25-19, 19-25, 25-13) win in Murfreesboro, Tenn., on Nov. 1.

FIU is led by Kimberly Smith with 2.90 kills per set, Ashlee Hodgskin with 5.16 assists per set and Jessica Mendoza with 2.83 digs per set.

The series between TU and the Panthers are knotted up at one, but TU defeated FIU 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-14) on the road on Oct. 13.
