TULSA, Okla. - The University of Tulsa volleyball team found out its opponent Thursday night as No. 11 seed FIU defeated No. 6 seed MTSU 3-2 (18-25, 27-29, 25-20, 25-22, 15-11) after trailing 2-0 in the match on Thursday.

The Panthers (13-16, 7-7 C-USA) had three players with 16-plus kills and three players with double-digit dig performances in the win.

The No. 3 seed Golden Hurricane defeated FIU 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-14) on Oct. 13 in Miami, Fla., to tie the series between the two schools at one.

In the match earlier this season, senior outside hitter Kellie Culbertson recorded her 1,000th career kill as she had 11 kills and 13 digs against the Panthers. Freshman libero Brooke Berryhill added 12 digs, while junior setter Bailey Clampitt recorded 19 assists and freshman setter Genesis Viera added 17 assists.

On the season, Culbertson leads TU with 3.58 kills per set, which ranks ninth in the C-USA, and with 0.49 service aces per set, which leads the C-USA and ranks ninth in the NCAA. The C-USA First Team member became the second player in school history to record 400-plus kills and 400-plus digs in the same season.

Berryhill leads TU with 4.68 digs per set overall, which ranks fifth in the C-USA, and with 5.31 digs per set in league matches, with ranks second in the conference. The Golden Hurricane leads the C-USA and the NCAA with 18.45 digs per set this season and ranks fourth all-time in school history with 2,066 digs.

FIU is led by Kimberly Smith with 2.90 kills per set, Ashlee Hodgskin with 5.16 assists per set and Jessica Mendoza with 2.83 digs per set coming into the tournament.

The Golden Hurricane enters this tournament with a 10-4 record in C-USA Tournament matches.
