Volleyball Faces Tulane at 5 p.m. Saturday in C-USA Semifinals

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The University of Tulsa looks to even the season series against Tulane on Saturday at 5 p.m. in the semifinals of the Conference USA Tournament in Alumni Memorial Gym.
The No. 3 seed Golden Hurricane (24-6) defeated the No. 11 seed FIU (13-17) 3-2 (22-25, 25-21, 26-24, 23-25, 15-5) on Friday night in the quarterfinals.
TU was led by senior outside hitter Kellie Culbertson with 20 kills, junior setter Bailey Clampitt with 29 assists and freshman libero Brooke Berryhill with 29 digs against the Panthers. Junior outside hitter Valerie El Houssine added 20 digs and eight kills, while sophomore oustide hitter Ashley Hooper recorded a career-high 16 kills and a .433 hitting percentage. Senior middle blocker Miriele Gobbo tied a season-high with 11 kills and freshman setter Genesis Viera added 25 assists.
The No. 2 seed Tulane (27-3) defeated No. 7 seed UAB (21-14) 3-1 (19-25, 25-20, 25-22, 23-25) on Friday night in the quarterfinals.
Tulane was led by Cori Martone with 15 kills, Mel Mandelbaum with 47 assists and Grace Weaver with 15 digs. Annie Shurtz added 12 kills, while Tea Juric added 13 kills and 11 digs.
The Green Wave defeated the Hurricane 3-0 earlier this season on Nov. 8 in the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
