FRISCO, Texas - The Southland Conference honored the University of Tulsa volleyball head coach Steven McRoberts as one of seven all-time coaches to coach in the conference.

McRoberts coached at the University of Central Arkansas from 2006-10 before becoming the head coach at TU.

"It's humbling to be included on this honor roll," McRoberts said. "Anytime you make a list like this it is always because you have had great players, outstanding assistant coaches, support staff and an administration that sees volleyball as an intrigal part of the athletic department.

"As you can see we (UCA) had a number of deserving players on this list and I can name a lot more who deserve to be on this list as well. I am blessed to be on the honor roll, but really I was just a small part of a great volleyball family."

McRoberts was a three-time Southland Coach of the Year from 2008-10 and led the program to the 2009 and 2010 regular-season championships.

McRoberts went 122-74, a .734 winning percentage, which is the best winning percentage for any Southland coach with at least 100 victories during his five seasons.

McRoberts coached nine first-team All-Southland selections, three Players of the Year, four Freshmen of the Year and three Setters of the Year.

McRoberts has posted a 77-23 record in three-plus seasons with the Golden Hurricane and has posted a 474-163 in 17-plus seasons.

The Golden Hurricane awaits to see if the team can get an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. The Hurricane ranks No. 39 in the RPI ratings released on Monday and the NCAA selection show is on Sunday at 8:30 p.m. on ESPNU.
