LEXINGTON, Ky. - Senior outside hitter Kellie Culbertson was named on the 2013 American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I Honorable Mention All-America, announced by the AVCA on Wednesday morning.

Culbertson was named on the AVCA Southwest Region Team on Dec. 10.

Culbertson, a 2013 C-USA First Team member, led TU with 3.57 kills per set, which ranked ninth in the C-USA, and with 0.50 service aces per set, which led the C-USA and ranks eighth in the NCAA.

The Long Beach, Calif., native set a school record with 167 career service aces passing Vanessa Thon, who recorded 162 service aces from 2001-04.

Culbertson also set a single season school record with 61 service aces this season passing Nicole Boyle, who recorded 60 service aces in 2007.

Culbertson became the second TU player to record 400-plus kills and 400-plus digs in the same season as she recorded 432 kills and 477 digs. Kassiana Urnau was the other TU player to accomplish the feat as she recorded 487 kills and 433 digs in 2006.

Culbertson recorded her 1,000th career kill at FIU on Oct. 13 and finished third in school history with 1,164 career kills. She recorded a career-high 33 kills at UTEP on Nov. 15, which ranks tied for the fourth most in school history and was the most by any C-USA player this season.

Culbertson finished second in school history with 1,639 digs and recorded a career-high 30 digs against Oklahoma on Sept. 17.

Culbertson became the third player in school history to record 1,000-plus kills and 1,000-plus digs in her career joining Kristien Van Lierop and Urnau.



She recorded 23 double-doubles this season, which ranks tied for third most in a single season in school history since 1994 and has recorded 56 career double-doubles, which ranks third most in school history since 1994.

Culbertson was named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 14, her first Offensive Player of the Week award and her second career weekly award. She averaged 3.83 kills per set, 0.67 service aces per set, 4.00 digs per set, 0.67 blocks per set, 4.92 points per set and had a .467 hitting percentage in two 3-0 sweeps in Florida.
