Christina Holmes and Alexa Sidorakis each scored a goal in the second half to give the Tulsa women's soccer team a 2-0 win over SIUE on Friday night at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU moved to 3-0 on the season, while SIUE fell to 0-2-1 overall.

"I felt like we had a really good first half, but came out a little flat in the second half," Head Coach Kyle Cussen said. "Christina came in from the bench, gave us a spark and got the goal. She had two or three other really good opportunities as well. And then to get the second goal from Alexa was great."

The first 76 minutes ticked off the clock scoreless, but Holmes netted a goal from seven yards out up the left side on a forward pass from Roman Edwards at the 76:21 mark. Just 38-seconds later Sidorakis tapped in a score from two yards out on the left side with Rachel Thun picking up the assist.

Tulsa had a 10-2 lead in shots, including all five shots on goal, while the Cougars had a 2-1 lead in corner kicks.

Thun, Sidorakis, Holmes and Madison Smith each had a team-best two shots. Rebecca Defer logged all 90 minutes in goal, had no saves and earned her first shutout on the season.

Tulsa will return to action on Sunday, August 30 against McNeese State. Game time is set for 2:00 pm at the Hurricane Stadium.
