Tulsa dropped a 57-50 decision against Arkansas Wednesday night as the Hurricane let a nine-point lead slip away in the final eight minutes at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. The Hurricane fell to 2-5 on the season, while the Lady Razorbacks kept its' season unblemished moving to 7-0.
 
Freshman Shug Dickson led three Tulsa players in double-figures with 14 points, followed by fellow freshman Kendrian Elliott with 11 and Erika Wakefield with 10 points. Elliott, who missed the previous three games with an injury, returned to lead the Hurricane in rebounding with seven boards.
 
Arkansas was led by Jessica Jackson with 22 points and nine rebounds. The Lady Razorbacks shot 38.6 percent from the field, while Tulsa shot just 29.7 percent. UA had a 48-44 lead on the boards, while Tulsa had 12 assists to Arkansas' six and only six turnovers to 13 for the Lady Razorbacks.
 
After scoring just 13 points in the middle two periods, Arkansas splurged for 23 fourth-quarter points while holding Tulsa to just 11 points in the final stanza to claim the victory.
 
Tulsa used an 11-2 run to take a 39-34 lead after three quarters and built its lead to nine points twice within the first 2:10 of the final period. The Hurricane took a 48-40 lead at the 7:08 mark on a Tatyana Perez layup, but that would be the only points Tulsa would score in the next 7:04.
 
Arkansas used a 17-0 run to take a 57-48 lead before Wakefield' jumper in the key at the 0:04 mark made the final score 57-50.
 
The first quarter saw the two teams total 38 points, while combining for just 14 points in the second period. The teams exchanged baskets in the first two minutes of the game before the Razorbacks took a 10-6 lead at the 4:56 mark. Tulsa out-scored Arkansas 6-2 to tie the game at 12 with 3:26 to play.
 
A three-pointer by Perez at 2:38 put Tulsa ahead for the first time at 15-14, before Arkansas closed out the first 10 minutes on a 7-2 run to take a 21-17 lead after the first period.
 
The two teams tightened up defensively in the second quarter as Tulsa shot just 19 percent from the field and Arkansas found the net just 16.7 percent of the time. Tulsa scored nine second quarter points, while the Lady Razorbacks were held to five points in the quarter. Arkansas scored its first point of the period on a free throw at 9:25 to make the score 22-17, and did not score again until 0:54.
 
The Hurricane took a 23-22 lead on a Dickson jumper with 6:38 left on the second quarter clock, and built the lead to four points, 26-22, on a Dickson trey at the 1:52 mark. Arkansas scored the final four points of the half as the teams went into the intermission tied at 26.
 
Dickson led Tulsa with seven first-half points, while Arkansas' Jackson tallied 10 points in the first half.
