Shug Dickson scored a career-high 22 points, while Erika Wakefield tallied 17 points and Ebony Parker recorded 15 to give Tulsa a 73-62 win over UCF on Saturday afternoon at the CFE Arena in Orlando, Fla. The Golden Hurricane moved to 6-13 on the season and 2-4 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Knights fell to 12-7 overall and 2-4 in the league.
"I think Shug's development over the course of the season has been huge and that has been evident in the last three games," Head Coach Matilda Mossman said. "She was tremendous today handling pressure and getting off great shots. I think Tyjae' is the unsung hero because she played 22 minutes and although her stat line doesn't show it she was a big presence. She defended well and kept her player from getting rebounds."
Dickson's 22 points marked her third-straight 20+ point game for TU and helped the Hurricane earn their first-ever win over UCF in Orlando in six games spanning 11 seasons.
Kendrian Elliott pulled down a team-best six rebounds, while Wakefield added five, all of which were on the defensive end. Dickson had five assists and a block, and Tyjae' Scales recorded a team-best three steals.
TU shot 49-percent from the field, 50-percent from three-point range and 71-percent (15-of-21) from the charity stripe, while UCF shot 36-percent from the field, 50-percent from behind the arc and 72-percent (18-of-25) from the free throw line.
The Hurricane had a 14-7 lead in assists and a 1-0 advantage in blocks, while UCF had a 36-34 lead in rebounds. Both teams had seven steals.

TU went on to take a 19-14 lead at the end of the first quarter. TU shot 53-percent from the field compared to UCF's 28-percent in the first 10 minutes, while the Knights hit 6-of-9 from the charity stripe and the Hurricane didn't attempt a free throw.
