Saturday, September 1st

All school marching band students are invited to The University of Tulsa Band Day on Saturday, September 1st as Tulsa Football hosts Central Arkansas.  The game time is 6 p.m.  All wind and percussion instrumentalists and color guard members are welcome to attend.  Participants will spend the day with the Sound of the Golden Hurricane Marching Band, attending game day rehearsal, lunch, and experience a college football game day.  During the game, participating students will perform part of the halftime show with the Sound of the Golden Hurricane!

Registration: Includes Game Ticket(s), Lunch & A Halftime Performance with The Sound of the Golden Hurricane
  • Full bands:
    • $50 - 25 students or less
    • $75 - 26 students – 100 students
    • $100 - 101 students or more 
  • $10 - Individual student
  • $10 – Family/Friend Tickets (Does not include lunch)

Band Day Itinerary

Saturday, September 1st vs. Central Arkansas (Game Time - 6 p.m.)

11:00-11:30am
 - Check in for HS Band Day at the Mabee Gym Band Room

12:00pm – Rehearsal w/ HS Band Day Guests - Halftime w/HS players

2 Hours and 30 Minutes Prior to Kick-off – Rehearsal Ends, transition to cookout outside of Music Annex. Food provided by Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Mr. Greg Tiffany.

1 Hour and 30 Minutes Prior to Kick-off – Call time for Sound of the Golden Hurricane – HS band members transition to “new U” to watch pregame concert/parade. 
   - HS band members change into uniform after the pregame concert at the Music Annex; then enter the stadium on north gate facing 8th St. Once in the stadium, take your seats in the band section which will be explained that day.

15 Minutes Prior to Kick-off  – Pregame Performance

KICK-OFF – HS guests will play in the stands with band. 

2 Hours After Kick-off (approx.) - Halftime Performance

4 Hours After Kick-Off (approx.) - Game Ends

Band Day Packing Guide

What to Bring – All participants should bring the following items with them:
- Instrument/Flag
- Music (Click here to download – available soon)
- Flip Folder and lyre for music
- Band Uniform (see below)
- Rain coat (if weather calls for rain)
- Spending money for refreshments at TU Concessions during the game

Uniform – All participants should plan to wear their High School marching band uniform during the performance.  It is recommended that you bring your uniform with you in the morning (in a garment bag).  Changing rooms will be made available for changing prior to our pre-game lineup.

Music – You do not need to memorize the music ahead of time, but you are responsible for bringing the music and necessary flip folder if you choose to use one.
