TULSA, Okla. — Controlling the line of scrimmage and some clutch defensive plays led Tulsa to a 24-10 victory over Oklahoma State on Saturday at H.A. Chapman Stadium. It marks the first time that Tulsa has won back-to-back games in the series since 1952 and was the first win for the Golden Hurricane at home over the Cowboys since 1998.

Tulsa's (1-0) defense was fantastic on Saturday, forcing four turnovers, two interceptions and two fumble recoveries, while also recording two sacks. It was the first time the Golden Hurricane forced four turnovers in a game since 2024. The defense held OSU (0-1) to just two-for-four in the red zone and two-of-six on fourth down.

Baylor Hayes completed 17-of-24 passes for 227 yards and one touchdown and added 28 rushing yards. Damari Alston rushed for 73 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries. Oran Singleton caught four passes for 99 yards and a touchdown. Chris Thompson Jr. recorded 10 tackles and recovered a fumble.

After Tulsa's opening series ended with Max Tulen's punt, Oklahoma St. drove from its 27 to the Tulsa 3, converting one fourth down along the way. The Golden Hurricane defense held there, with Sam Stone and Devin Robinson stopping Tre Page III on third-and-1 before Hudson Ball and Chris Thompson Jr. combined to stop Caleb Hawkins on fourth down for a turnover on downs.

Backed up at its own 3, Tulsa flipped the field on Baylor Hayes' 56-yard completion to Singleton, and Hayes later kept the drive alive with a nine-yard run on fourth-and-4 at the OSU 35. Marlon Hauck finished the 75-yard possession with a 40-yard field goal at 2:18, and Tulsa carried a 3-0 lead through the end of the first quarter.

Tulsa's defense stopped the opening Oklahoma St. possession after Caldra Williford dropped a completion for a loss and Dax Collins sacked Drew Mestemaker, but Tulsa's ensuing drive reached only its own 37 before a punt. Robinson forced a fourth-down fumble by Tre Page III that Chris Thompson Jr. recovered at the OSU 33, giving Tulsa a short field before Hauck's 31-yard field goal attempt missed. Oklahoma St. answered with a 62-yard drive, before Sam Keltner made a 35-yard field goal at 2:04 to tie the score at 3-3. Baylor Hayes moved Tulsa back downfield with completions of 22 yards to Singleton and 47 yards to Jimmy Calloway, and after a holding penalty wiped out an initial touchdown, Alston scored from 1 yard out at 21 seconds before Hauck's extra point gave Tulsa a 10-3 lead at halftime.

Davis strip sacked Drew Mestemaker on Oklahoma States's opening series of the third quarter, and Arias Nash recovered the fumble at the OSU23, but Tulsa came away empty after Hauck's 40-yard field goal attempt missed. The Tulsa defense got off the field again at 10:10 when Kyran Duhon stopped Ayo Adeyi for no gain on fourth-and-1 at the TLS41, and the offense turned the field position into a 59-yard drive capped by Baylor Hayes' 21-yard touchdown pass to Singleton for a 17-3 lead after Owen Carey's extra point. Oklahoma State answered with an 11-play, 75-yard drive, converting fourth-and-7 on Mestemaker's 16-yard touchdown pass to Justin Bowick at 1:52 before Sam Keltner's extra point made it 17-10. Tulsa moved back across midfield in the final minutes of the quarter, using a 12-yard completion from Hayes to Donnell Gee Jr., a pass-interference penalty and runs by Hayes and D.J. McKinney to reach the OSU33 as the third quarter ended with Tulsa ahead 17-10.

LaDainian Fields intercepted Baylor Hayes at the Oklahoma St. 8 on Tulsa's opening drive of the fourth quarter, but Tulsa forced a punt on the ensuing possession and later stopped Oklahoma State on fourth-and-1 at the Oklahoma St. 34 when Zach Williams and Sam Stone held Miles Coleman to no gain.

Tulsa needed two plays from there, with Alston running for 5 yards and then scoring on a 29-yard run at 7:52 before Carey's extra point made it 24-10. Oklahoma St. moved from its 25 to the Tulsa 12 on the next drive, including Drew Mestemaker's 27-yard completion to Wyatt Young and a pass-interference penalty on fourth down, but Zach Williams intercepted Mestemaker in the end zone for a touchback with just over four minutes to play. Tyson Williams capped off the game with an interception on the Cowboys' final drive to hold on for the win.
